The irony is that I'm black and can't sing like that

As a white man with a deep, life-long love for R&B, I needed this video 😂

It’s crazy how such small details can change the sound of the song so much.

Black American music has given me my strength to keep going and that is what I want to give back to the world even though I'm a white European! Thank you, Paul! Very appreciated! The "I" part blew my mind!

Also, here's my tip for other people watching: see where the accent falls on the word in your own language. In American English it falls on the first half, no matter how hard you will try to get the letter sounds right it's still going to take a huge effort to do it unless you get your cadence in place. In your language it might fall on the second half. It's gonna help with breathing too!

No matter what your skin color, BE YOU!!! Listen to your soul, work hard and you will find your authentic voice. It''s there, God gave it to you and it is there isn't another one like it (my teacher had to beat this into my head every time I wished I sounded like someone else:)
Now that being said, like 80% of my musical hero are black, LOL. My soul is grateful to Black American artists and their beautiful contribution to American music. My heart & art would not be the same otherwise...

It is important to appreciate all of the dialects in a language and sing them. Now I can't twang when I sing, but I do appreciate that twang in folk & country music. -- Beautifully explained Paul

I'm British and Whitney Houston was always a great singer and I always wanted to sing like her, so much I think I will try these videos and then fingers crossed I'll get a lot better at singing.👍👍💋🎸🎤

I was a homeschooled, isolated white kid and for some reason I keep fooling people into thinking I’m a black woman when I sing. 😂 But I wasn’t allowed to listen to most music (only Christian) so I have no clue where I got it from. She said it’s like my parents lost me somewhere at a blues club when I was a kid. Hahaha.

All I got to say is I sing every genre and because of your videos are very informative on how to do these techniques I just finally started connecting my runs and you do not have to be black to do these things and it’s all about The character and personality and your runs, and one character I’ve noticed about mine is I lean on just vowels to do runs in one sequence. And if it wasn’t for you I would not be where I am with runs and riffs.

There's a difference between singing with an American accent and singing like a black person haha

The most important thing people need to remember is PRACTICE! Vocal exercises every day and sing some of the hardest songs you can sing will go a long way for vocal control. And don’t forget your fundamental breathing!

Not a fan of runs. When done tastefully they are amazing, but some people tend to overdo it. I wanna learn how to belt and hold a clean note.
