I think both are same, it’s just that in northern India it is called Roti but in central n south India it is called chapati.

I think different Indians have different definitions (so, before buying it, one should make sure how the seller defines it) - but I like your definition!

Roti is made of refinded flour and chapati is made of whole wheat flour..thats the biggest difference..chapati is more healthy than roti..thats another difference
