3018 PROVer V2 CNC Review & Demonstration - Sainsmart

Today we review the newly released Genmitsu Sainsmart 3018 PROVer V2 CNC machine! This is seriously the best CNC of the 3018 form factor that I have reviewed so far. While expensive in comparison to other 3018 CNCs, this machine from Sainsmart definitely has the quality parts and attention to detail to back up the price tag.

Thanks a lot. I am interested in knowing how much time horse took. How about switching from roughing to details? Any chance we can mess the piece, and how is this done?

This video was super helpful, you briefly touched on how you set the feeds and speeds rather aggressively. Could you give some more details on the feeds and speeds you usually use for 3018s? There is like no good information I can find out there on good feeds and speeds for the smaller 3018 machines. This info would be a GODSEND.

Thanks for your video, what is the name of the software you use for cutting?

With these Bedslinger types, how concerned does one need to be about dust getting into the Y Axis Leadscrew?

Any sort of shroud one can buy/3D Print etc?

Excellent video! I hope you continue this series because these insights are invaluable.

I've found your channel a couple of days ago in my search for a 3d printer and a table top CNC machine that can possibly cut softer aluminiums or plastics.

These reviews give an excellent idea of what these cheapo 3018 aliexpress/amazon specials are capable off with some good setup and are very insightful on what is actually possible and what to look out for.

I was initially looking at the Snapmaker A350T or Artisan type of machines since my workshop space is quite constrained, but delving a bit deeper there are just some things that make these machines not really excel at either 3D printing or CNC cutting (basically competing requirements) and it's all proprietary instead of these generic machines so if it breaks, it's very hard to fix it yourself, so I've expanded my research to also include the cheaper straight-out-of-china machines (along with purchasing a dedicated 3D printer instead of trying for a machine that can do everything) and stumbled upon this channel.

I would love if you could make a video on what to look out for when buying one of these.

The obvious points are of course work size and motor power, but I've also found that how the motor is mounted (3d printed plastic, injection molded or cnc'd plastic, full aluminium clamp) is very important, as well as the rigidity of the frame (don't want any plastic there either), if the linear guides are tubular or flat rails, or the mounting method of the bits (some use a brass tube with set-screws for both the motor and the bit, while others use a regular ER11 collet connected by a keyway to the motor, while others use a regular ER11 collet with set screws thus avoiding an unbalanced motor shaft. And then (like you mentioned in the video) nice to haves like limit switches (but they also limit the work area), sleeved cables, bed levelling sensors etc.

It seems like all these variations can have tremendous impact on how precise the machine can move, how hard material it can cut and how much maintenance need to be performed to keep the machine in good working order. About any of these configurations are available from aliexpress, ranging from around €200 all the way up to €1000 for the same work area and motor power.

I hope to see some more videos where you try to mod this machine and see if you can get better performance by for example levelling a waste board to get a perfect level work surface or adding things like fluid for cooling, dust evacuation, replacement motor etc.

Thanks again for the great video!

how many time did you take to engrave the horse pegasus ?

I have a question.
I tried making a 8 X 11 IN carving, but the machine only did half of the engraving.
I measured it and it only did 6 IN of the planned carving and ignored the rest.
What is the max limit this machine can carve so I can adjust my height and width accordingly.
I know the spill board is 11 X 7 IN.
So, why didn't it cut the carving to 7 IN instead of 6 IN?
Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

is it possible to take any pictures out of the mobile gallery and to engrave them?

Hey, I have a question, hope you'll find the time to answer:) I'm really interested in watch making, obviously I'm not expecting the machine to work well with those tiny watch parts, but what about a watch dial, would it be able to carve out precise lines, or some patterns, we're talking about a circular shape of about 40mm that I'd work on, is that possible?
