Say what you want about Putin, he is a very smart guy. I don't think Putin wants a war with the west or Europe but i think he is just concerned about his country being surrounded by NATO and their arsenal.

I watch the filmed interview, and I was stunned by the brilliance of it's conception, the masterfulness of each person in their execution. And the naturalness of it, reflectiveness. You'll forgive me, I "Illegally watched them". But I am securing a hard copy, in a delux edition. Because long after gen y is gone, people who want to understand the times would do well to study not only the work itself - but the culture's revealing response to red heavy medicine.

and my respect and consolation to russian people for enduring all these suffering over decades caused by US and western cold war regime. you and china are now only remaining balancing force for peace against the West.
i can hardly imagine that how utterly russians felt betrayed after Gorby's astonishing, anguished effort for peace and american's constant recklessness afterward. so they could not help to chose agonizing rollback, will-to-power Putin government to maintain order.

It's a fascinating, must-watch documentary that reveals a lot about Putin, Russia, Ukraine and the US
Sit down with an open mind and watch it, you won't regret it
Especially with the current situation, you'll understand the war much better

The article about this on the right-wing rag The Daily Beast is whining that Stone thought of this and none of the right-wingers did. They could have tried it, and said at any time that Putin refused. The right-wingers always want it all their own way.

I am looking forward to "The Putin Interviews". Even though Oliver Stone is a bit ham-handed in much of his political stuff, interviews, documentaries I think his work is thoughtful educational and provocative. I liked the interview with Hugo Chavez and Castro. Even if the interviews are not perfect they are important to hear in order to dispel the void in our brains about "THE OTHERS".

A lot of what Putin says he does not have to work to hard to come up with ... just read the many books from inside the US that are critical of the US. In Russia there is really not the same thing, and quite a few critical journalists end up dead, though Putin is somehow allowed to come into Western media and act like a smooth man of the world.

What are our Western leaders doing anyway? He has a point that US has been a lot more aggressive and hard line than Russia. Russia was the most affected country after WWII, and the US waiting until the last minute to bale them out. We let them take hundreds of thousands or millions of casualties and many of their cities destroyed before we invaded. On the other hand, it could have been that we didn't need to invade at all.

Russia has been on the defensive since that time, and the US has been pushing and testing and claiming the Russian have been trying to take over the world, but that is either not true, or the Russians have merely not been successful - but meanwhile the US had control of almost all of South America and picked up much of Europe's old empire.

I am looking forward to seeing this.
