Review of the 1560 Geneva Bible, from Hendrickson Bibles. Being as we have just gone past the 501st anniversary of the reformation, I thought this would be an interesting Bible to look at.

Beautiful Bible. The Geneva Bible speaks to me in ways modern translations cannot.

The Geneva Bible was popular with the Pilgrims who founded the Plymouth colony in 1620. My family brings out this bible at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Was published in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1579 by Bassendyne. The Bible Act made ot a law that every home of means in Scotland must but one.

Oh wow. I'm new to my journey, I have wanted to ensure I have not the easiest Bible to read, but one that is the right one to read for me. This one has resonated with me, there's a hardback version in my local pre-loved book shop for £35 which i feel will have to be gotten as I clicked the link for the same version as yours and it's now over £200!!! Unless I can source this lovely leather bound version elsewhere for a better price, the hardback will have to do!

6:50. YOU ARE WRONG. THE ORIGINAL KJV and most reprints through the early 1800s HAD MARGINAL NOTES AND ALTERNATE TRANSLSTIONS written from an Anglican perspective. Removing the notes, etc. made the KJV Bible easier to print--and, therefore, cheaper.

The bible is a book written by men who never even met the people they wrote about (many many years after). It is also heavily edited by a church that had a power and politics agenda, eliminating a number of chapters. In addition, there isn't just one Christian bible - there are at least three with different numbers of chapters. There exists no provable, fact-based evidence to support any of the supernatural (spiritual) events in it. Thus, it is pure human belief - a human emotion and dependent on as many human thoughts as there are humans. To believe without factual evidence is like saying a court case should be determined by only hearsay or a feeling. It's hard to think God wouldn't hold humans to a standard that they hold themselves
