The BMW M5 is powering into a new era. With 40 years of history having passed under its wheels, the legendary high-performance sedan has reached its seventh generation. And the executive model from BMW M now has an electrified drive system for the first time. A model-specific version of the M Hybrid system gives the new BMW M5 a maximum system output of 717 hp and peak system torque of 738 lb-ft. The combination of a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor, abetted by an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system gives drivers a new experience of the performance with which M models have made their name.

It's the ultimate driving machine, if you need to do 500 miles in a car I'm pretty sure this will be perfect. Especially with an x-pipe

I did a cross country road trip in a BMW (7 series) from the West Coast to the East Coast then back to the west. Such a good car, I'm a fan!!!!

BMW gave enthusiastic the M5 that they never asked for. I think I bought my last BMW 2 years ago. F10 535d xDrive. Keeping my e36 coupe. And if I happen to buy another one it will be the ones before this generation with the hybrid BS on an M car. To each their own. Very sad day but it is what it is.

2025 M5:

The 2025 M5 is significantly heavier, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, once you run out of your electric battery charge (25-mile range), you are left with only 577 V8 horsepower to push a 5, 368-pound car. What a disaster! And the rest, I am not sure where to go with it.

What is up with not having a gear lever? I don’t think BMW is listening to their customers and clients anymore.

Every interview they feed us a bunch of BS and the interviewers are afraid to ask tough questions. The BMW may fool the new buyers, but not the BMW enthusiasts and the people who are loyal to the brand. More so, those who are engineers are not buying these nonsense interviews.

You can’t fool us. Cheap plastic door panels, plastic carbon fiber-looking paddle shifts, and no carbon fiber steering. Yet, all of which is available on the M3 and M4 models. The rear diffuser truly looks like an afterthought Lego attachment. And the front kidney grill is identical to the i5 M60. What a joke!

And I am sure BMW has increased the price beyond any measure to match the rest of the model lineups.

Wait until the driverless car is developed. Then, BMW can show cars only, and there will be no need for expensive model drivers.

F10 m5 was kind of a stepback after e60. But the fans were easy on that taking rising numbers and acknowledging you can't live up to high expectations all the time. And then comes g30, basically an upgrade for an unsuccessful model. It became stiffer, more rigid, got AWD to handle power better. But it was clear for the second generation in a row that the formula was broken and the spirit had gone due to a simple misconception of overweight for driver's car. And now they put 1000 pound more on that excessively heavy car to keep up with marketing. Maybe they really wanted to pull out those 0-60 figures nobody really care much in modern era cause it's already too and non differentiatevly fast. I guess it's safe to say m5 is dead forever now. It may keep coming off production line because of brand marketing and status, but analysing car industry, auto pilots, functionality over anything else, etc. i think we should blow passionate farewell kiss to our baby. RIP Ferrari killer, You've become too old and fat for a lady in red.
