As odd as this build is, it shines quite well against comps with multiple fast engage mons, like Speedsters, that you need to peel off your backline but whom are typically agile enough to evade Surf.

Overall, however, it works as well as it does because Blastoise is just Blastoise.

2 pumps in a row will never be bad. You even get a third one as soon as spin is over

I did play this build a few times before, sometimes just for fun but it has its niche moments when it’s needed.

This build actually carried me in trio ranked (1800-2000) last year for about 300 games, usually along Hoopa / Deci.
It's a very good mixup to pack some peel, good CC, better secure than SpoutSpin. I definitely long to play it again with either Spoon or Guard.
Also catches many opponents off guard because they underestimate the actual damage output of this build.

Ive honestly come to prefer this build on Blastoise. The addiction started as my wacky Mewtwo X counter and I quickly realized it was good on anything diving int your units.

This build is not bad, It even has some niche use cases over surf pump for me in draft.. Only Surf + Water spout is trash.

What I like about this build is they get pushed back when you spin and use hydropump.
