UNMC Match Day 2025

126 medical students at the University of Nebraska Medical Center School of Medicine -- and tens of thousands from across the country — celebrated "Match Day" as they simultaneously learned where they’ll attend residency training after graduation this spring. From this class, forty-six percent of UNMC students are staying in Nebraska for their training, with 41% at UNMC. Fifty-three percent matched in primary care, which includes family medicine, internal medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics, medicine-preliminary, medicine-psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics.
Residency is an intensive training program that lasts anywhere from three to seven years, depending on the medical specialty. It’s a necessary step on the path to becoming a board-certified physician and Match Day is an unforgettable part of the long journey.
