Building the Transom | Temptress 1/4 Scale Boat Build Part 5

Показать описание
In this video we look at the process for building the outer framing of the transom. Setting up the transom mould jig and laminating the curved parts of the transom framing. We then install the transom on its strongback legs for alignment.

Welcome to the new series where I am building a 6' model version of our new boat design Temptress. The reason for building the boat in that size is so that I can show the process, exactly the same as it will be for the full size boat with everything scaled down. It will offer a full tutorial on how to build the boat, be a test run for myself and also give me a demo model that I can take to boat shows.

I love being able to watch this and in my head think of what I need to do to get garage ready for a fall start of my build.

Loving the series, readying a build area (probably for the 1/4 scale). With the secondary option using dowel/pinholes, is there still a need to have oversize laminate pieces and then need to rework the laminated structure to size as there probably won't be any slippage?

Very inspiring... would a small hole at the center of the plies for a pin be useful for limiting the slide during curing under pression ?

edit : ;) got caught comenting before having watched the hole video...

@DanLeeBoatbuilding How’s that Chriscraft coming along?

Does the transom skin have to be on the jig for building the transom frame? Seems that you could trace the position of the skin for reference.

Awesome build.

A little bit of salt between the layers should stop them from slipping

Why not built the transom structure on the boat first and put the skin on top then? Just the classic way, saving the wood for the jig here. If there's a reason for that, you should tell the people why you chose this way. The frames should have even more connection surface to the beams than a domino or so I believe. I'd overlap the frames with the beams.
