Developer Mode on your Chromebook OS allows for advanced customization and access to features not available in the standard mode. In this tutorial, I'll show you two easy methods to enable Developer Mode on your Chromebook.

🛠️ Method 1: Using Keyboard Shortcut

Turn Off Your Chromebook: Ensure your Chromebook is turned off completely.
Enter Recovery Mode: Press and hold the "Esc + Refresh (F3)" keys, then press the "Power" button. Keep holding until the "Chrome OS is missing or damaged" screen appears.
Enable Developer Mode: Press "Ctrl + D" on your keyboard. A prompt will appear asking if you want to turn on Developer Mode. Press "Enter" to confirm.
Wait for the Process: Your Chromebook will begin transitioning to Developer Mode. This process may take several minutes.
Final Steps: When the transition is complete, your Chromebook will restart, and you'll see a warning screen. Press "Ctrl + D" again to confirm and proceed to Developer Mode.
🔧 Method 2: Using Settings

Open Chromebook Settings: Click on the time in the bottom-right corner of your screen, then click on the gear icon to open Settings.
Navigate to "About Chrome OS": In the Settings menu, scroll down and click on "About Chrome OS."
Enable Developer Mode: Look for the "More info" dropdown menu, then click on it. Next to "Channel," click "Change channel."
Change to Developer - Unstable: In the Channel list, choose "Developer - Unstable" from the dropdown menu.
Confirm Developer Mode: You'll see a message about Developer Mode. Click "Change channel" to confirm.
Restart Chromebook: After confirming, your Chromebook will automatically download the necessary updates and restart into Developer Mode.
⚠️ Note: Enabling Developer Mode will reset your Chromebook, deleting all local data. Make sure to back up any important files before proceeding.

Luckily, my Chromebook worked the same way, except the screen did look a little different than yours. I’m waiting for it to be finished now. Thanks for such an easy tutorial. I used the second technique because the first one was not compatible with my Chromebook

The first part of the first method shown in the video is wrong. The only thing that clicking "Build number" repeatedly (0:41) does is enable "Android developer options", which is completely separate from ChromeOS developer mode. You can instead just go straight to changing the ChromeOS channel (1:08).

The second method shown in the video is valid.

Note also that the description does not match the video.

Hello! I have a new ASUS CX55 Flip and am wondering how to enable Linux (Linux Subsystem) on it. Do you have a video for that? I have to search more to determine how to do that. Thank you for the video uploader. 🤗
