Rod bearings, vanos pump, gearbox failure, and even the engine just exploding out of no where. This car is known to have extraordinary issues with reliability, but it's worth it. The E60 M5 is a supercar in sedan form

Send it to the repair shop and have the exhaust refabbed

Needs a real exhaust setup on that, sounds really raspy and tinny. It's a NA engine, you gain no benefits from going catless. Put some good cats on, get a high quality exhaust made out of quality materials with good resonators and mufflers, and try something like an X pipe. It's an M car not a Nissan, stop cheaping out on it.

I had the M6 E63, best sounding ever ! Till it gave me rod bearings, vanos pump ! Lucky I had the manual so didn’t need to go through an smg nonsense ! Sold it for $5000 back in 2016 . Don’t get me wrong lovely car but not worth the money .

Why everyone is so negative about the e60 m5

I feel like the V10 engine note is like the licorice of engine notes. People either love it or they don't. My preference is more for an inline 6 in a bimmer. The V10 sounds more like two Audi 5 cylinders competing against each other, but I do get that some folks like the cow moo song of a V10/straight 5.
