I talked to a B-52 pilot at an airshow several years ago and he was piloting the exact same B52 that his father and grandfather flew. That's outstanding to be able to not only experience that but to be able to tell others.

My Dad flew B-17s in WWII, then B-36s, and then B-52s. As an O5 and O6, on 52s he flew the Polar Express.... out of Ellsworth & Malmstrom, over the Artic Circle, down and up the coastline of USSR, then back over the north pole to home base. So many amazing stories... I miss my Dad.

Im 61 was a B-52 crew chief in the 1980s when the airframe were in their 20s and the same age as me. Looks like they have aged better than I have.

"The B-52 was in service when you were born, it'll be in service when you die"

This statement applies to like 70% of humans alive today

63 years old. That's more than twice the average age of the crew.

"We can have a B-52 where you need it, when you need it, within 48 hours. So we're like FedEx for special deliveries. But much more dangerous".

As the old saying goes. When the B2 is retired, the B52 will be sent to pick up the crew.

My husband was a radar navigator on B-52s back in the 80s, and they are still proudly flying.

bro the fact that they lost a engine and had landing gear issues while landing and hearing those extremly calm pilots being like no problem shows how well trained the pilots areand how well build the b-52 truly is.

Let me tell you.. I’m far from an airplane enthusiast but this is probably the coolest thing any of us will see today. Imagine a plane that’s as old as a B52 being upgraded SO many times over the years and went from one of the deadliest to one of the greatest 🤏🏽 Such an amazing feat of engineering

Imagine being overflown by a 63 year old AC, knowing it came from mainland US, and will come back to mainland US, to be reminded we can reach you.

"It's important we show our allies that we mean what we say." Mike Johnson obviously didn't get that memo...

Maybe the audience does not understand this; but as a pilot I can tell you that a flight where an engine needs to be shut down and one of your gear does not extend is considered pretty disastrous. This report makes it seem normal, but I am shocked that they had two emergency situations in one flight.

It's not your grandfather's air force, even though you are flying your grandfather's plane.

Having the worlds largest navy and soon to be worlds largest Air Force is an unsettling thought.

B52s are part of my core memories as a child. I'm an Air Force brat. My dad was a 52 flight engineer during Vietnam. I toured the flight deck and bomb bay area of a 52 and even sat in one of the engine intakes with my little brother during an Armed Services Day event in the 1970s. Makes me feel a little proud that they're still flying strong.

I am age 60. That thing is going to outlive me. It's amazing than an airframe can last that long.
