I am studying the history of Texas and began reading about the Alamo a few days ago. Thank you from heart for preserving this place and for sharing. Stay safe everyone. Hope to visit the Alamo someday. Greetings from Italy

I've been fascinated with the entire Alamo story since I was just a little guy. The story is far better than any Hollywood production can undertake. Brave men both Texans & Mexican willing to follow their own beliefs & principles. Hopefully will finally visit such a sacred place of history.

After reading some of the comments, here is my thoughts: I live in Texas its home. I am an immigrant myself. I cannot think of anywhere else I would rather live, and have embraced ALL cultures here in the Lone Star state. Stop dwelling on the past, its history, and done with. We can learn from it, but it isn't changing anything today. If you reside in Texas, and are here LEGALLY, we are TEXANS!! We have our problems, ain't nothing perfect, let's work to resolve our issues and stop acting butt hurt about "who stole what from who". Get over it, it's in the past, and become a productive member of society.

The Texans stood alone for 9 years as a separate Republic. Bravo Texas.

What is lost in the wash is that the Mexican Army was a good well trained army.  PROBLEM?  They were poorly led.

I have been to the Alamo about 4 times for business or travel. Each time I learn something new. No, the cellar was dug about 5 or so years ago. It is a storage for the gift store. I have been to Mexico City and visited Chapultepec. There is a small room with a display case of 2 long guns, 1 pistol, the flag of the New Orleans Blues, and a lance pennant. The applets of Santa Anna and his dueling pistols. Beside the display case is a small cannon, probably a 2lb. on a wood, naval type carriage. At the end of the room is the original 1834 Mexican Constitution. Nothing else. The room has a sign in English and Spanish. It only said "Alamo"

What gets me I bet anything the Alamo defenders thought no one would remember this little battle and their sacrifices were of little matter. We cannot seem to forget it, it is played out over and over again, it is like a curse in a way...

The Alamo defenders were true heroes; they knew they would die but fought against discrimination in property rights, voting and religion imposed by Santa Anna etc.

People don't understand that Texas beat Santa Ana, they kicked his ass. Not the U.S. army. That needs to be explained more. Before Texas was a state or republic. American's and Mexican Texans won that war for independence which lead to statehood later. That's an incredible story.
