I was a student in Leningrad in 1969, and they still spoke of the siege as if it were a recent event.

There was some agricultural research facility in Leningrad. The scientist had many tons of unique seeds in their position. Seeds like rice, wheat, ray, peas, buckwheat, and some others cultures. Almost all people, who worked there, died from starvation, but the collection of seeds was untouched. I’ve been in Leningrad few times. Amazing city, I love. On different occasions, I was joining families of my friends, dinner. You know, when their mother, or grandmother slicing bread, they treat crumbs like gold. They eat them right away, or add in a soup, but never throw away.

no need to blur images, that is blurring history. blurring history is a shame to put it lightly.

When a quarter of the documentary is blurred out, the horrific part of war can remain hidden.

The worst kind of warfare is siege warfare. We have seen time and time again through out history that when equal powers meet on the battlefield field the only reasonable route to go is to siege everything around and hope you lay waste to more than your enemies can and that kind of warfare definitely breaks the will of the children. They don’t have a dog in the fight but yet they pay the highest price🫤🫤🫤

The fact that y'all have to censor your content and blur it out ticks me off. YouTube can get I sat down to watch a great documentary and they ruined it.

I really hate it when the videos are blurred in documentaries. I stop watching right then. Don’t edit history!

This video is more about Army Group North than about of Leningrad. There is virtually no mention of the terrible suffering of the population of Leningrad. Nothing is said about the stout defence put up by starving Russian forces for almost three years. Even the breaking of the siege is dismissed in one line

Unless you were there or lived there no one can imagine the suffering in the terrible winter. Trying to stay alive, let alone move about and fight is tragic.

29:20 The reason why the machine gun didn't seize was because of whale oil lubrication. Back then we didn't have the refinery technology to fractionate oil into is different components.

I have pretty much read every book and watched almost every video about the siege of Leningrad. But those all talk about the actions of the Germans. I have never seen, read, or watched any information about what actions were taken (or not taken) by the Finns on the northern line. It would be great for someone to document that story.

I cannot begin to imagine how terrible the Russians had to struggle for their survival in the whole of the second world war. I am thankful that they managed to defeat the Germans because without the Russians who knows what might have happened.
