youre not supposed to slam your brakes. ABS was made because people would slam their brakes in emergencies and end up sliding, when in fact youre supposed to apply a certain amount of pressure that doesn't lock you up

For those who didnt unserstand, when you dont have abs, you can slam your brakes all the way and it will prevent wheel from spinning and not spinning tires cannot change the direction of your car thus you cant steer.


With ABS however, it doesnt fully apply the brakes and lock the wheel but applies it in a smaller pressure without stopping the wheel from spinning which allows steering while braking.

Abs is basically a system that prevents the wheels from locking up so in a case of an emergency you can still steer the car while having the brake pedal on the floor without worrying of a lock up.

Some old hags in the comments had the audacity to say "you're not supposed to do that" or "you're the reason every car has ABS." ABS is far superior than a human, as it controls the brake force of each individual wheel. And when you brake, you have acess to steering. Usefull in an emergency situation. They often forget that not everyone is a mad annoying car guy who thinks everything manual is superior and "manly, " voiding the fact that there's people who have cars for the sake of transportation and don't care about this stuff.

This is not how it works, ABS actually has a longer stopping distance compared to regular braking.
This aside though, ABS allows you to change direction by altering between locking and releasing the front wheels when the brake pedal is constantly compressed.
It is a marvelous invention especially for anxious and bad drivers, but ABS will not bring you to a stop faster.
I can also point out that this test is done on BeamNG, it is a very good and accurate simulation but you have to consider the mass of the vehicles in question.
If this test was done with the same vehicle you will immediately see what i am pointing out. The problem here is that your blue sportscar will always come to a stop faster than the sturdy American oldtimer which weighs twice as much, even when it is using ABS.

В случаи торможения по твердому покрытию близкому к асфальту автомобиль с ABS лучше, но в случаи рыхлых поверхносте типо грунт, грязь, снег, песок и т д без ABS лучше будет торможение по прямой
