This kestrel dad is trying his best to care for his six chicks after his partner left. Male kestrels don't usually brood chicks and he's a little clumsy. Watch him try his best then head outdoors to call plaintively for his mate..

I have no doubt you will keep an eye on the youngster to make sure they aren’t in danger for too long whilst go and hunt . His little crying is so sad . I am sure he will continue on being a great dad and doing is absolute best and beyond !

After loosing his wife, he really tried. He filled the nest with mice, doing a perfect job, but it´s the female that rips into smal pieces, feeding the babies... Well he learned it, and with the timely help of Robert, All 6 survived! Chek out his beautiful owl-vlogs too, such hearwarming drama.

I had a kestrel nest across the road from my house last year. Never saw any babies though. I did catch him swoop down and grab a meadow vole in my yard.

Hope they make a return next year...
