I do enjoy the commentary and am amazed at the incredible amount of commitment it must have been for Tara to sit down for 365 of these sessions! Thanks so much!

My God Shot: God provides protection (IISam.17:19) and provisions (II Sam.17:28) at just tge right time.

Simple, but powerful message! GOD IS FAITHFUL AND TRUSTWORTHY! He is able to use unexpected things like chance encounters, seemingly minor details or unlikely people to carry out his plans and be a blessing. Thank you Tara for amplifying these important but key details that can get lost in daily bible reading.

My God shot was the unconditional love David had for Absolom, even knowing his own son was intent on killing him. Until you're a parent, you can't fathom the love we have for our children, no matter what they do. That's how our Father God love us. He's always there, loving us through the good and bad.

King David's disappointment reminds me how grateful I am to serve God, not man. Thank you for your patience, Lord.

God shows us His face in various ways, through different people. I just returned from a business trip, and my wife prayed that on my trip, God would show me His face; and He did, through many different people’s encouragement. At 2 Sam 17:27, Makir from Lo-Debar greets David and provides for his army. Lo-Debar is the hometown of Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, who is actually very grateful and loyal to David. But earlier, David speculated that perhaps God told Shimei to berate him for his previous sins (2 Sam 16:10). And God worked through Hushai’s advice to Absolom, which spared David and his men (2 Sam 17:11). It’s good to have my eyes and heart open to see how God speaks through people I encounter each day.

Day 137 was certainly a riveting one, I couldn't help but think whatna block buster this would be if it were a block buster. God’s plan cannot be thwarted and he will use even our enemies to bring about his plans. Giving praise to THE ONLY WISE ONE (OUR GOD)!

Aloha and good morning BR family. Praise God for another day of reading and understand His words. He is good all the time; all the time God is good. Thanks TR, our commentator, for reminding how good God is through his words. He is where the JOY is.🙏

I love how you always remind us of the reoccurring themes like Rahab hiding the men and the part about Saul's son sleeping with his father's concubines. God definitely is in the nuances!

What a different story we might have had if David had been a better father to Absalom.

His glory became his downfall. Sitting here today.

My main takeaway is David’s response to rejection. He is rejected by his own people, his own close friends and even his own son. In that kind of loss and pain he leans in closer to God. Because of this relationship that he has with God, he knows that he does not need to retaliate or defend himself. He sees very clearly that God is his defender.
At the end of the day, if all we have is God, even if we lose or get hurt by those closer around us, God is enough.

These warriors travel many miles through the land, hillside, over the Jordan. Then back again. I cant understand how Zadok, the priest was on team Absalom. The Israelites fought amongst themselves where this confrontation began and ended. God's hand was in this conflict. David was still the one chosen to be the king. Absalome killing was overkill. Joab and his armor bearers ran their weapons through and through. Absalom was not humble, built his own monument, never sought the Lord, and was used to complete the consequences of David's past sin. I guess it proves we need to be on the side Of God's justice and truth.

My God Shot: Even though Ahithophel’s advice is not followed, he spoke truth, I think of the future of Jesus.

“I will come upon him while he is weary and discouraged and throw him into a panic, and all the people who are with him will flee. I will strike down only the king,
and I will bring all the people back to you as a bride comes home to her husband. You seek the life of only one man, and all the people will be at peace.””
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭17‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This is a picture of Jesus, I think. Jesus’ disciples abandon him. Jesus, our only King is struck down. His people are brought back as His bride and we are at peace, reconciled to God.
