As a nurse, Doctors without Borders has a special place in my heart... glad to have been a part of your awesome fundraiser. My Mom loved No ID orchids.... she called them "orphan orchids" because they had no "family".... she would very often buy them when no one else would even when they were out of bloom... because "every orphan deserves a home"... She loved the surprise of seeing the first beautiful flowers from a plant she had no idea what it

I have 3 NoID phals and it doesn’t bother me because they’re beautiful and I love them anyway. Great job raising money for Doctors Without Borders! That was great!

It's amazing that strangers who share the same hobby can do something good for others. Dani, you gathered great community and your campaign shows that people who grow orchids, quite distinguished plants, are not heartless. Even in these difficult pandemic times, we still remember about those who doesn't have that comfy lifes as we have. Thanks to you and to Repotme for this great initiative.

LOL!!!! You had one of my orchids on the screen, Kaleidoscope. I didn't know it was called that as I had rescued it from Wal-Mart and there was no tag. How fun. Wish I could attach a picture. Another facet of the orchid hobby to explore. Thank you, Dani! 👏👏👏

A few years ago, the Taiwanese government gifted our island (St Lucia, Eastern Caribbean) with an orchid garden/nursery. Most of the orchids are dendrobium, phalaenopsis, cattleya, vanda and oncidium - with beautiful f blooms. Lately, the nursery does not operate as it should (*tears), as the Taiwanese orchidists (??) left. The new staff no long LIST the orchid's names (pot luck for us new buyers). A few months ago, I "rescued" what seemed to be discarded dendrobiums which only had roots, but were not potted - hence "NoID" (they were given to me free of charge - of course I demanded it!!!). I took them home, potted and fertilised them. They are doing well, so far; with keikis, and healthy roots - but of course, I have no idea of the flower type. Thanks for showing how to identify NoID orchids, and also to Adora Tsang for the orchid ID app. Now, I really have an idea what to do online. While I did purchase a phal, and a dendrobium, I have NO IDEA what bloom to expect ... waiting ... The staff had no idea the name of the orchids. Sad, but true!!

The first orchid I bought from them was a Dendrobium Miss Yaya - this one had a label!! And I got a beautiful bloom from it.

Congrats on the donation. That is great. As for IDs... I give my orchids my own name but I also enjoy finding out what their real ID is. For instance I bought one that was No ID from local grocery store and later found out it was a Phal SoGo Vivien. It was great fun and like being a kid again finding the hard Easter egg. :P That said I don't lose sleep over it if I don't know the ID of a Phal. I just wait and figure it will come to me when I least expect it (like with the Vivien) or it won't. :D They are beautiful and so far I am keeping them healthy/happy. That is all I really need to know. :D - Heidi

Beautiful orchids! Every time I watch one of your videos I want more Orchids, (mostly have houseplants atm) then I go looking, don't find what I want then get depressed. (In the uk) ebay seems to be the best option but I never seem to find what I'm looking for at the time. Then I lose patience till next time I watch a video 😅

I do all of those things to help identify orchids, but sometimes It gets tricky, because some hybrids can be so similar to each other. Also knowing different languages can help, for orchids in the Americas I tend to search in Spanish, for Asian orchids I search in Thai language.
