Do y'all even Throbak?

This is one of my absolute favorite gear companies, and I never hear anyone talk about them. There are a few other players in town who are hip to Throbak, but I thought I'd do a video on two pieces of gear of theirs I've had FOREVER and have no intention of ever getting rid of.

If I had to sum up the company in one tagline, it's new gear (pedals, pickups, strings) that sounds like old records. Check them out, and if you're interested, here are a couple links:

I have a '56 Goldtop Reissue and I absolutely adore the stock pickups. I opted for the '56 model because I definitely wanted an ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece.

Justin, I love watching you play your Goldtop because (first of all, I like your playing style, but also) it inspires me to pick mine up make some cool, similar sounds. Whenever i see that you've posted a video with your goldtop in it, i make sure i watch it just because you give me ideas for my own playing. Thanks for the inspiration!

Throbak makes excellent stuff. I no longer have any of their pedals, but i do have a set of pickups in my lp, and theyre awesome. I took a 19 lp classic and replaced all the hardware to more 50s correct material and throbak pickups and its about as close to vintage proper lp tone as youre going to get for under $5k.

The customer service is great too. If you have questions theyll spend the time with you.

A gold top…keeps calling my name. Used to hate them AND p90’s simply for the look. Now I love them….both for the look🤷🏻‍♂️
Great vid as always🌻

Justin another superb video! You alway have the best tone, so dynamic and harmonically rich, and then of course the amazing playing 👍🏾 Really appreciate all this in-depth content where you ready take your time to explain and give us details. Thank you sir!!!

Another cool video -- I get several new sonic ideas with every one and I go back through the old videos as well to get playing ideas to emulate. My rig is what it is (in the short term) and it sounds pretty good. Incrementally better as new pieces come along. But it's your playing that helps my sound the most. Cheers.

I had to listen to this one a few times. Your sound is simply killer. And yes, it's killer both in and out of context of the song! That's a keeper for sure.

Cool video Justin, nice workout on that OD. So many out there it’s great to have a player like yourself run them down and provide good food for thought. As a rule for me anything will better once a P90 appears- great job bro

My man this sounds absolutely amazing! I actually discovered the Overdrive Boost from one of your videos a little bit ago and I love it. But I could run the Overdrive Boost with a tape delay (usually a Volante or Belle Epoch Deluxe) with a P90 guitar and cover everything I need. Keep up the awesome videos!

Old drummer here
I have a CB 700 free floating maple/copper shell. I bought in 1985 and it’s still my primary one.
Probably getting a salt snare this year

I'm not saying Throbak stuff isnt good, but it is outrageously priced. I remember the first time I saw their PAF clones recommended then I saw the cost lol.

Those chords at the end were the stuff that HIT RECORDINGS are made of .
