I don't understand why a father would take his 6 and 9 year old boy on a hiking trip in the smokies and say it was done every year. Especially since the 6 year old boy was mentally challenged.
They said the scruffy looking man was 40 miles away from where Dennis was but his father didn't see it.

There's no roads in Spence field. And it wasn't his father that saw the rough man, it was another person by the name of keys. Dennis Martin most definitely was taken by a feral man. The green berets were not involved in the search for Dennis, when the bad weather stopped the search, the Green Berets went hunting for the feral humans. FBI and park officials knew what happened to Dennis Martin, and the man in charge of sending in the green berets to hunt them later took his own life, because he couldn't take what he saw. Men, women, children and women with babies had all been shot .
