It's 2023 and I'm now 49 years old. It has taken me 29 years to get up the nerve to watch the footage of Mutumbo on the floor with the ball. That was the year our beloved Sonics were supposed to win it all. MJ retired, we had the best record in the league, it was ours for the taking. Damn whatever Bill Walton said about us not being strong enough to get through everyone in the playoffs. Then this happened. We were up 2-0, then lost both in Denver, but Shawn and Gary would for sure pull it off in the Game 5. That was such a gut punch that Saturday in 1994. Didn't want to read the Sunday paper the next day and see those headlines on the front page. And for sure I didn't watch the news that weekend.

Came here to reminisce after hearing about Mutumbo. I'm a 48 y/o woman and for some reason (not even a Nugget or Seattle fan) still remembers this 30 year old upset to this day. It stood out. I think it's because I just love seeing underdogs win. RIP Mutumbo. I miss 90s basketball so much!

I remember this game and it was a little over 30 years ago. Seattle won the 1st 2 games at Home and was on the verge of sweeping denver at the old McNichols Arena, all Shawn Kemp had to do was hit at least 1 free throw and it was over . Give Denver credit to a degree but i was looking forward to seeing my Knicks vs the SuperSonics that year in the finals 😢
