'Varys is just a bald guy in a dressing gown, hoping for the best''

This is why you are my favourite GoT reviewer.

Didnt Gendry's father actually kill John's real father? They just don't know it yet

I like how Danny burned a bunch of Lannister soldiers alive with her fire-breathing dragons and then she was like "I'm not here to burn people alive with my fire-breathing dragons" and after that she was like "But bend the knee or I'll burn you alive with my fire-breathing dragons" and then she burnt some guys alive with her fire-breathing dragons.

I gotta say I was a bit dissapointed that Jamie and bronn just swam away.. I spent a lot of time last week thinking about what would happen if he was captured as a prisoner, that would make everything really complicated, because Tyrion is on Danerys side and so on.. So felt kinda dumb that they just got away even though both Tyrion and Danerys saw him charging the dragon.

Anybody else damn tired of waiting for Bran to do something awesome and useful with his new powers? So much time was spent on his journey up north, so many characters suffered and died, and now he just sits around and says creepy stuff to everyone... He really needs to go warg a dragon, or tell Jon about ancient forgotten secret defenses from the white walkers, or drop an avalanche on them or something, just to prove it wasn't a complete waste.

The Eagles wouldn't have worked in Lotr's. They would have been spotted from miles away by Sauron. They would have been intercepted by the Nine, shot down and killed. Losing the ring in the process.

Also the top of mount doom isn't really open straight down, the only way to destroy the ring was at the crack of mount doom (ha, crack...) yeah, where Sauron forged the ring. To get there one had to go through the entrance on the side of the mountain. That means a passenger on the eagle that can contend with the ring, aka Frodo. And since they would have been spotted from miles away by either Sauron's spies or by sauron himself who's a "GREAT EYE!!!", the entrance would have been guarded by plenty of his most powerful forces.

"the same reason the eagles don't fly Frodo to Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings"

Yeah, lets fly a couple hobbits into the heart of the enemies territory carrying the most powerful weapon on them, while 9 Nazgul are flying around guarding the place. Good idea...

I love that smooth transition into the audible advert

It so annoying, that people always point out that Frodo could have used the eagles. THAT would have been a stupid idea. Sauron would have spotted them easily and the Nazgul would have taken them apart with their DRAGONS. To be as secret as possible was their best bet. Lotr is pretty logical, especially of course the books. Tolkiens depiction of battles in the books is actually more realistic than some of GRRM depictions.

Early on, anybody that made just a couple mistakes ended up dead... Starks in particular. Now, our main characters keep making incredibly stupid mistakes, all the Starks, Lanisters, etc, and they all miraculously keep surviving. It's really not the same show, today, that it was.

So how Bronn managed to pull out Jaime out of water? Jaime is wearing full plate armor (possibly of gold, but that would be ultra stupid on the battlefield, so lets assume its only gold plated). They managed to swim whole lake (battle is on the other side) and Jaime was in a bit of shock. This defies logic almost as much as Euron's instant travels and whole bending of time-and-space continuum in season 7.

The best part of Dany’s quest to “break the wheel” in Westeros is that her family exclusively ruled Westeros for the last 300 years until Robert’s Rebellion. Considering how peaceful the realm was under Robert and how many people liked him as King, it seems pretty fair to say that “the wheel” in Westeros is synonymous with Targaryen rule
