They should allow to place the chorus fruit flower on any soil but it doesn't grow unless it's on endstone. So you can make weird alien trees with chorus flower hanging out in the leaves.

The new planters look lovely - lets you really appreciate the top texture of the flower, which you don't get to see a lot.

You should never worry about "weird" block combinations. Of all people, you know how to make things work. There is no real comfort zone when it comes to colors with Pearl, which makes everything you build so nicely varied!
