I’ve seen a video of how it’s made in Cuba. I’m not sure if it’s the original bar that came up with it. Anyway. You throw in a ton of green mint. Then raw white sugar. Then you stir them together for ever. The sugar and the stirring causes the oils from the mint to come out. No crushing no spanking, just stirring the sugar with the mint. Then you add the rest, lime, rum, water and ice.

the proper measurements are 1oz simple, 1oz lime, 2 oz rum and top with soda. don't sit there stirring for 1 minute like a bozo either. just muddle it.
