What is PWM?

In this tutorial I will explain what PWM is and how to control it with the arduino. In one of the future videos I will show how and where to apply pulse with modulation such as controlling motors.

This is the best explanation about PWM I have seen so far. Well done!! Just one little detail that I am sure you know, but came out wrong in the video. At 3:36 you say that the pwm value at 100% is 225, but it is actually 255. I will definitely show your video to my students. Thank you for making it!

One cool way to view the duty cycle is to wave the breadboard fast enough, in the dark, and notice how the LED will not draw a continuous line like it would at 100% duty cycle. You'll probably want to lower the frequency at 100Hz though.

Why didn't you initialize the pwmValue as 0? Does declaring it simply makes it equal to 0 automatically?

I done the sketch in Arduino. Then added the serial monitor to watch the (pwmValue) numbers. Slowed the delay to 50ms and I can watch the numbers climb from"0" to "255" and reset...Very Cool
