Fun Fact : Warm colors should be blue, white and some other light colors and cold colors should be red, orange and darker colors. Because stars in the sky are hotter if they are blue or white (~5000°C at the surface) and colder if they are yellow or red (~2500°C at the surface) ; like fire actually.

We are just used to use red as a warm color and light blue as a cold color (because of ice probably).

3:17 Actually if you use them correctly they look really good with eachother. Ectoplasm just didn't execute it well.

Edit: There are many good color combinations like triangle or square. Heck i think the joker's costume from DC is a color combination using the square. Sorry for bad explanation
