The main reason why it didn’t caught many people attention is that it was released during a time when multiple other popular anime was out. It got completely overshadowed. As a Manga reader I will say that the story moves pretty slow and I can understand why some people may find it boring. Although hey! It’s gonna get real good soon. Trust me.

I actually just came across it recently and binged the three seasons on Netflix. I happen to think its one of the best written. It shows that while you can make progress sometimes its not enough, and brute force isn't always the correct option. The main character is weak, but he has a good mind for strategy and he makes others believe in him through determination of trying to get better and making use of what he does have. Also probably one of the most balanced of all power systems ( at least in what ive come across)

Honestly, from my experience i can tell you why and it’s long so be wary….

-FIRST THINGS FIRST!!! I love world trigger i just finished it like a day ago and kid you not it’s top 10 from all the anime I’ve watched in my lifetime.

•reason why i think people don’t watch it is because people don’t know the plot or don’t know the context of what they’re fighting for. They just see the clips and think “oh shi i gotta give this a watch, then come to find out it’s 73 eps in the first season. It throws people off but there’s a good reason for why it’s 73 eps. For one the first season covers everything and explains in a more in depth detail and then slowly incorporates the problem at hand later on. It also introduces a lot of characters with different skills which brings me to my next point.

• a lot of characters are introduced and are unique in their own way to the point where most would probably have you think he/she is the main character, but NO!! Get this….. the MC of the show is literally a weak B rank agent named Osamu Mikumo that literally everyone says he’s the weakest no matter how hard he trains he has lower trion energy than everyone else. When i tell you i dropped this anime so fast because of that i literally hated myself, but after i picked back up the anime and finished it; Kid you not he became one of my favorite characters only because, he knows that he’s weak… body wise but the way he commands as a captain of the squad when they’re on the playing field and how he looks at the way his squad and how other squad members fights as pawns and the squad members are okay with that because they know that when is comes to terrain warfare he’s like a general and it’s honestly scary how crafty and tricky he is because he has endless strategies to where even A ranks view him as a threat even though he’s weak asf, but what’s more impressive is the fact that you watch him grow and become just that and it gives in-depth details about the strategies he uses and who he got it from.

• another reason why i believe people couldn’t watch world trigger is due to the fact that they strategic actions and warfare in in-depth details which probably makes it hard for people to understand, but what i like about that is that it goes in details the fighting sequence and the trigger use while experiencing it in battle, the anime is very mature and strategic and it’ll have you thinking what the person gone due next. There is no “power of friendship”or
Hidden abilities unlocked. It’s literally the strong vs the weak. If you’re weak on the battlefield then you lose simple, but that’s what makes this anime interesting because osamu is weak yet he’s somehow beating folks that’s are stronger than him, yea? That’s because pretty much they’re saying yes there are character that are weak asl in terms of strength, but there are character that’s uses their weaknesses as their strength and uses it to their advantage to help others in their squad get an easy point or one up. The anime really will have you thinking what is their strategy and how are they gonna be this A-rank team in the next round and how will they work together in battle against trion soldiers when there is a real invasion that’s happening.


My advice is even if it’s slow still stick with it i promise later on in the season it will really have you hooked on each character and the fight seasons are so crispy and well thought out

I've loved World Trigger since 2014 (basically when the anime just came out), and still love it, it's been years and yet no one watches it ! I appreciate anyone who likes this show 🙏, why do I like this show ? The details, The character design, The plot, the funny moments, the serious moments, everything !

It's got one of the best "Hard power/magic systems" I've come across. The whole "Trigger" thing would make for an awesome open world RPG where you build your own trigger sets and increase your proficiency in it (sorta like borderlands). You could then use a combat system similar to Dragons dogma where Right Bumper + A, B, Y, X are the triggers in your "Main hand" and Left Bumper + A, B, Y, X are the triggers in your "Sub hand".
There is also the fact that you can increase your Trion level over time, so this system is perfect for a video game.

I still keep up with the manga, but I think the show is more or less dead as the manga releases a chapter about once every month or 2, and the show has already caught up with the manga (more or less). So it's gonna be a good couple years before we see another season.

The reason why it is so underrated, Toei tried to make this Anime long as much as possible like what they did to One Piece (early version), unfortunately the author get and still sick and ruin out of material for season 1 to continue, that's the reason why first season is hard to watch for others, with long and repetitive recaps. but still this anime is 10/10
