Should I change the color of my 1974 Oldsmobile ninety eight to blue?

Hi guys, I am really undecided. Should I have the car wrapped in dark blue? Or leave it yellow… ahhh… I meant colonial gold

No. Love the gold paint job.

It would be such a waste to make it blue.

I love the gold, it matches the car perfectly.

I love golden cars, why not install some additional lights in the garage (if they allow it - perhaps LED lights on batteries with a remote control) ?

If it was my car, I wouldn't change anything. The paint color suits the Oldsmobile. Besides, colonial gold reminds us of an automotive history day gone by because cars of this vintage are becoming more rare and we are seeing less of these 1970s colors.

Looks great the way it is. Changing the color would be a waste of time, money, and effort. Leave it gold!!

I vote for leaving it alone, looks good as is

As much as I dislike the gold personally I would leave it as is. Perhaps a high end professional polish and coating would be enough. Your cars are beautiful.

If you want to change the color, try to find something close to the gold color. Because you want to match the new color with the interior and the vinyl top at the same time. Try the bronze or rusty brown. It will look great on the '74/'75/'76 models in particular. Good luck.

Nein, bitte nicht ändern - das Gelb 👍 ist eine wunderschöne Farbe, die perfekt zum Auto passt.

Would it look much better as a dark blue or black car, , , , yes ..
Would it be insane for you to do a color change on a primo 22000 mile original, , , yes...
Now if it happened to have a dark but it doesn't, , , leave it alone..

No, I think you should leave it colonial gold. It looks nice, and it's a typical 70's color.

I wouldn’t change anything about the Olds. This is just a nice typical early seventies color.

I don't think dark blue would look good with the Olds interior. Are there auto detailing shops in Germany? Or you could bring to a paint shop and have them buff out the paint. The paint has a good shine but buffing may deepen the color.

I'm not a fan of that colour, but I wouldn't do it in dark blue. And what about the door jambs? Difficult to wrap those and when you open the doors it would look odd if you left them as is

Hi Alfred, that gold colour is very 1970s. I agree that it's not an ideal colour in 2022 but I'd leave it original. It's period correct and I'm not sure the wrapping would work very well without removing the chrome trim first and that would potentially lead to broken clips and even bent trim pieces. It is a beautiful original car. Congratulations on the purchase.

If you're asking for advice, you're not sure and most likely it won't be better. If we repaint it, then in a color that is beyond doubt

Being that you are asking for opinions, I would leave it just as it is. Being that it has manages to remain in such great original condition, I would not tamper with the good fortune this car has had over the decades. To use an American saying: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Learn to love the original color and enjoy your beautiful Oldsmobile.

Deep metallic brown works if any color does.
