I personally use the color range select option, works just as well but it's simpler
Select > color range > you can choose a preset color or sample a colour > done
Then creat a hue and saturation layer and it works the same

Oh I know a tip for this method.
If your colors look a bit weird (too bright, too dark or uneven) after changing the hue go to:
Image > Mode > Lab
And now it preserves brightness according to perceived brightness by the human eye!

Wow this is a throwback for me, I had a Photoshop ROP class, which is just a class you take for credits at your school but at another location, and the teacher made a huge deal out of doing this method, at the time I didn't care because it took more effort and I didn't care about Photoshop aside from making stupid edits, but now seeing this today I can really appreciate how much better the result looks.
