Have you noticed that you are getting less but paying more? How about services are getting less and less good but still cost the same? We all know about inflation but it is not always obvious. Here are two sneaky ways companies are getting more money from us to mask inflation.

Ice cream is another crazy one. Charging more for less.

So I recently read a book on Hershey. They used to sell gum cause Milton got into a feud with Wrigley.

Hershey sold packs with one extra stick of gum to try to literally one up the competition. The government then taxed Hershey more for that extra stick of gum. Even though I think the extra stick wasn’t reflected in the price or at least that’s how the book presented it.

Sometimes I wonder if something like this is going on today leading to companies shrinking their products. Does that make sense.

The first time I noticed that the company was shrinking was back in 2002 diapers, women's pads, macaroni cheese, coffee flavoured in frozen etc. People are just noticed now because the media said something. Nothing new 😞

Something that doesn’t make sense to me is where I work. A 20oz coke is 2.49 but a 1 liter coke is 2 dollars. I don’t want that much soda on my lunch break but am forced to buy a bigger one to save money.

These videos used to be 10 minutes, now they're 25% shorter for the same money. *Why Is That?*

Remember Encore frozen dinners? Remember the ads for them in the 1980s? Or Mama Celeste holding her pizza and saying "Abundanza!" ( Abundance) because the pizza was loaded with so many toppings???
Buy either now.
Encore was 3 three pounds per box. Now it's 1.6 pounds. ( In case you graduated from the public school system, 1.5 is half of 3 ).
A Celeste pizza for one used to be about 8 inches and was COVERED in cheese and toppings. Now it's smaller, and has few toppings and barely any cheese at all.

Happening everywhere in Western world. Here in South Africa weight of product shrinking but prices increase. In Biblical terms it's called 'weighted scales' in other words theft!!!

The one that ticked me off the most is febreze. IDK if it's still like this but if you took off the plastic the bottom of the can had a plastic extension making the can look larger.
