Shrinkflation, where companies charge you the same price, but make the packages smaller is happening. This is a result of record inflation happening right now.

It's no different in Norway. Sometimes the bigger one is cheaper than the small one.
The manufacturers lame excuse is that less people buy the small one and is why it cost more...

I have noticed this going on with Hershy bars. They get thinner and thinner every year but, the price stays the same.

Inflation is hard in France since three years. It's a shame, we're dependent, life is so expansive and salary are not increasing.

We're used to it here in Brazil. But the companys must advertise the change at the bottom of the box or whatever the package is for at least 90 days after the new weight is adopted.

P.S.: I'd thought my entire life that this kind of trick didn't happen in the US.

Wtf it’s bs, I notice right away. I shop for what I need. So I have to constantly decide whether to buy double. And I hate that.

Thank you, sir, for this video. Really well made, and I definitely noticed "shrinkflation' in our local supermarkets. It's infuriating to see it, and we still pay the same price.
You mentioned that companies are doing this because of their own financial problems, supply chain problems, etc. I might add to it that they are doing it because they can and because in general they don't care about consumers. Best wishes!

I hate messing with the package sizes because it totally fucks up recipes when you don't have the same size containers you used to

Similar thing happened here in India. For RS x amount we used to get 1 kg of certain washing powder. after months the same Rs x Get same amount but this time marketing gimmick was 800gm + 200gm free. okay i get it. after a couple of months that 200gm of free washing powder was gone. and now all we get id for Rs x = 800gm of washing powder. i dont know what to call it, Cheating or Inflation OR Shrinkflation.

I bought mostard and strawberry preserves and they all were so runny. Are they adding water to it too?

Guess what? Those companies will lose my custom forever! And believe me, it's MUCH HARDER TO OBTAIN A CUSTOMER THAN TO LOSE ONE.

Cheese packages went from 700g, to 400g, and the 400g version is much more expensive than the 700g version was. Sadly it is not just us that have suffered. Big food industries have had to endure their brand new record braking annual profits. Also, records were broken concerning the number of annual new billionaires. LOL

I think it's better than price inflation in a way. Especially for the less essential foods. People who previously bought 1 pack every week are going to buy 1 pack every week again and subconciously eat less because they still want it to last as long.

I suspect this to hit peoples bottom line less than having the volume stay the same but increasing the price.
