EEVblab: News & Question

I've made the decision to only upload polished EEVblog numbered material to the main EEVblog channel.
No more blabs or unnumbered videos, they will all go on EEVblog2
And question: How would you like us to handle David's videos? Should they be given an EEVblog number like usual?, or something else?

I think David's videos should go with a regular EEVblog number... Being the same kind of content and the same quality the only problem is people surprised to see a different person, but exposure will help people to like him over time...

If you guys are working together is because you like each other and share a lot of views. So, if we like to see Dave, we will like to see David as well :)

I subscribe to all of your channels. I don't usually look to see what the channel name is. So, if it's good content, I don't care. Just chuck it at us. I haven't seen any content that would be detrimental to my existence - everybody has the X button. Happy days...

I think you should just categorize videos by content, no matter what host is doing it. Keep it simple, don't go down that rabbit hole overcategorizing by every possible parameter you can think of.

One channel is enough for everything. Grade of the video can be denoted in the title and thumbnail

People will get used to having 2 hosts eventually but in the beginning it might be very tricky. Dave1 has had the experience to make videos for a long time. Like even the way he explains things and talks is very clear and polished. I'm pretty sure Dave2 has not had such experience and no matter how well you edit the video at first it will appear off since he is new to all this. That's the vibe i have been getting when hearing the few sentences Dave2 has said on videos so far.
I think that many people would get annoyed by the ups and downs in quality on the main channel, even if the content itself is good.

Hi Dave, love your content, keep up the good work. With regards to the video numbering, I don't think it matters who is uploading a video. I would suggest just keep the numbering going as it is.

Keep it simple; give Dave2's vids a main sequence number and people will get used to it. You could always make sure his face is on the thumbnail if you like. Otherwise if you give him his own channel, what do you do with vids you both contribute to?

Honestly Dave I really don't care that much how you go about it. The content is what I love. I've been subscribed for years now because of it. Since the advent of your new channels I've been subscribed to them too. I have yet to see an EEV production that was truly bad in all the time I've been watching your videos. Even the ones that were pretty raw. As for the special snowflakes who can't deal with the way you do things, well, I haven't much pity for them. After all, they are still watching when it's super easy to just close the tab or window and watch something else.

You could probably prefix David 2 videos with something, like "D2 #1: Title"

I don't really care where you put your content, i subscribe to all 4 of your channels, and i usually watch every single video, so do whatever you think is best to grow your audience.

Problem is EEVblog2 already has none electronic videos (not a problem for me). Put all electronics on the main channel and just label them appropriately:

### - your "polished" electronics content
unnumbered - electronics but not polished
D2 ### - for David 2's videos. Makes it clearly obvious just by the video name. Some of your videos don't show you in the thumbnail so this covers it. Also for those that might be blind. And "D2" doesn't take up too many character in your video title.

EEVblog2 - *small* electronic quickies and everything else.
D2 - David 2's videos on EEVblog2 same as above.

I think this would make everything very clear to subscribers. And like I said in the last video (Owon unboxing) it was appropriate for the main channel as it was 100% electronics. Not everyone is subscribed to your second channel (only ~10%) likely because it isn't all electronics (fine by me) so they would miss these electronics videos. That's my opinion any how and I think it makes sense and makes it easy for subscribers to decide.
