Alex Landau and Black Lives matter 5280 at Stapelton HOA meeting

Black Lives Matter 5280 in Denver Colorado has engaged in a change the name campaign geared towards the Stapleton neighborhood. The Stapleton neighborhood, once Stapleton airport is one of the wealthiest subdivisions in the metro area surrounded by two of the poorest communities, North East Parkhill and West Aurora. The Stapleton community is named after Ben Stapleton, former mayor of Denver and high ranking KKK member. Black Lives matter 5280 and other groups and community members have been working to get the city to change the name to something that does not honor a symbol for a legacy of oppression. The Stapleton was hesitent to meet with concerned groups and when they finally did they organized a meet close to sundown in an abandon warehouse on the edge of the neighborhood and city limit with no lights over the meeting space, broken glass and bird feces on the floor and the sir filed with dust and what ever else.

Brother, I admire you so much... your strength and will to keep moving forward is incredible. I became familiar with your story a few months ago and I was inspired so much to tell it. Im kinda shocked that your story wasnt made more known to the common public. But then again...Im not considering the world we inhabit and the obstacles that lay ahead of us as a people.
