False. The fan is connected to a controller that won't allow electricity the opposite way.

i will be worried about damaging the bearings rather than frying the motherboard.

Most pc fans have a diode to prevent this lol

lol 2.... volt will not kill a diode 😂

I think if you blow the air the correct way it shouldn’t do that. Correct me if I’m wrong pleasr

Ever heard of a diode? it only allow electricity to flow in one direction, all good designs will take a fan that can generate electricity (they should not) will be protected by a diode.

I find it very hard to believe that three volts in either direction will damage a fan controller.

Engineers think this through, that is why they add resistor as a controlet o stop the electric flow.

😢sad but this is not the truth now a days modern cpu fan come with a reverse diode protection.
It means if it's a 12 or 24v or 36v or 48v fan. If we spin to its max rpm it will generate 1.30vdc to 1.60vdc hard enough to turn a led. But cpu works on.
1.50vdc
3.30vdc
And 5vdc
So yes it can damage cpu if reverse diode fails
Thank you😅

It's 2.5v. Those fans are powered by 5v or 12v circuits. They're not going to break if you put 2.5v in them.
