I've been looking to understand how logic gate circuits work, and I love how minecraft redstone is the perfect visualization for it. You also have a very clear explanation!

I spent a few hours looking for good up to date adders/tutorials for binary and finally came across your videos. Good quality and explanations, i'll be sure to subscribe.

Of course not! (I said this on your other comment too btw) You can use absolutely any way you please to represent numbers. In fact, you can even come up with your own way if you'd like. The reason binary is so widely used is because it's fairly efficient in use of wires, and the logic is fairly simple. However, there's no reason why you can't use another way if you'd prefer. Common alternatives are BCD, unary, decimal, hexadecimal, and hex

It probably takes some plactice. Bear in mind that there are built-in XOR-gates and AND-gates, those can really help you!

thank you so much fortaking the time to do it, it helps me alot, i just did an adder design and its so simple and small and looks so beautiful
but it has bugs :<
when i do 4+1 i get 5 but when i do 2+1+1+1 i get 1
and when i do 8+8 i get 16 but when i do 8+4+4 i get 0

It’s Deconary that you’re thinking of. Unary is base 1.

Isnt binary just 1010101 Binary can just be 1or0 just saying cuz when you explain you say binary is 2, 4, 8, some ppl might get the wrong message. you rule btw!
