2AZ-FE Oil Consumption Problem & Tear down - Seized Engine

This is just showing how this 2.4L Toyota Rav4 engine sized up. Common problem for the 2008 Rav4 2.4L. The connecting rod journal bearing nearest to the flywheel was starved of oil and sized right up.

Hey great vid! It's great to see it all dissected. I have the 2AZ-FE on my '09 Camry and it's now at, believe it or not, 440, 000 miles.

I have a 2012 Toyota Camry with 224, 000 miles. It has 2AR-FE. I bought it as a certified used Toyota from a Toy dealer, it came off a lease. I changed oil religiously mostly using Mobile 1 Syn 5w-30. Sometimes an oil change at a dealer. After 120K started burning oil, not leaking any. It got up to 1.5qt between 5000mi oil changes. I thought this is very weird. So 2yr ago I watched a Lake/Valvol** video and discussed these 2AR-FE engines and the Valv___ Restore & Protect product 5w-30. So I did as they suggested, and I am at the end of my 3rd oil change using that product and Toy or Denso filters. So i confirm my oil consumption has dropped to less than 1/2 qt between oil changes. I quit being lazy and seeing my cars get damaged & inferior oils/filters and utilized my driveway. I am thrilled with the Restore & Protect product and its getting harder to find on my area of Mesa AZ. I have 3 toyotas & a Lexus LS330. I'm still using Mobil 1 in some of them. I run 10w-40 Dino/Conventional elevated zinc oil in my bucket shim 3VZE 4Runner with 310K mi.

Interesting that this issue seems to happen mainly in the usa. I heard its only an issue if the engine isn't run in properly from new. Theres a lot of cars out here in australia that have this engine and well over 400, 000kms

What year engine is this? I see no oil squirters at 1:15? I thought post 2008 2AZ-Fe had squirters?

Would you please be able to tell me what size bolts you used to put the engine on a stand.

Also, some claim that the problem was limited to US made engines (from Kentucky). Can that be correct?
