Building a starbase on a planet (the build grid turn blue) increases the crew accumulation rate

Also, the bridge behind Captain Demming in teh cutscenes in clearly a Defiant-class bridge. Don't know if anyone else ever noticed that.

Closest there ever was to that was Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Dominion War. It was glitchy.

You need to watch Star Trek TOS, and TNG. They're the best of the series.

If you ever downloaded the map editor for this game and played with it, you'll be amused to see that the two Akira-class ships that accompany the Enterprise in this mission are labeled as 'Lincoln' and 'Jackson', respectively.
