Pro tip I tried using the dart 3 times in the field on different occasions and it failed every single time. Yes i had stans sealant. Bacon strips are the only way IMO.

Problems:
1 - whatever made the hole needs to be pulled out, need pliers.
2 - if the hole is to small that tiny ram rod is going to bend.
3 - this doesn't solve the issue of needing a air pump and sealant. If you're already carrying those you have room for a regular plug.

I have patched many tires with worse holes than that with a few layers of duct tape followed by something stiff like some cardboard and then more duct tape

That’s really cool but whenever you have a leak typically you don’t know until your tire is flat and then you can’t exactly air it up unless you have a air pump with you
