Client Testimonial - Retrospective Planning Permission for Replacement of Safety Handrail to Roof

After carrying out the work the client contacted Planning By Design to find out whether planning permission was required for the replacement of the existing handrail at the edge/boundary of the flat roof. The building is situated within the Conservation Area.

Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners, it was determined that the project is feasible but do require retrospective planning permission, which can never be guaranteed.

One of our chartered architects produced the required architect drawings, which the client approved. Following the approved architectural design, one of our chartered town planners prepared the required Planning Statement and Heritage Impact Statement, to justify why the planning application should be approved by the planning authority retrospectively.

Retrospective planning permission has now been approved for the replacement of the existing handrail at the edge/boundary of the flat roof.

Thankfully this means the client will now not need to restore the site to it's original state and is protected from retrospective planning issues and enforcement action indefinitely.
