The Scirocco was initially designed in the VW studio in Simi Valley in 2005. Robert Lesnik was the designer, I was his digital modeller. Together in 3 weeks, we turned his sketch idea into a digital model that was milled full size in Wolfsburg for the board to see. They liked it, and the project was signed off. It was then continued in Germany and looks very much the same as Roberts first sketches.

I miss the days when Doug would climb into the back seats to prove how small they were

You should take a European tour and review random cars we don't get here. It would be epic!

I’ve seen these in person when I lived overseas. The most striking aspect of the Scirocco is how low and wide it is. It’s basically a squished Golf. I think the dimensions are just a few inches different here and there but it makes a huge difference in terms of looks.

Over in the UK they're pretty common and you see these fairly often. They do look pretty cool on the road. It's the sort of car where when you see one you say to yourself "Oo nice Scirocco!". Strange to think that they're rare in other parts of the world.

My goodness this car still looks so good several years later.

This build brings back memories! Thanks to Alex for bringing this up to Doug for review. Sad to hear you're selling the car but I'm sure it will continue to bring smiles to the new owner. @Doug, we really apprecaiate your feedback regarding the fit and finish of the car. We pride ourselves on delivering our custom builds as if they've rolled off the factory floor at Wolfsburg and it's great to see that 13 years later this Scirocco still delivers! We are in our 32nd year of business and we still love the VR6 engine and all it has to offer. Stay posted as we are imminently close to announcing a new VR6T program that's sure to make waves. ;)

I'm from Singapore and I currently own a 2011 Scirocco 1.4 TSI for 3 months so far. Although the practicality lacks in certain areas, it really is a fun car to drive not to mention how good it looks exterior-wise. It really brings me back to the last days of simple automaking in the late 2000s/early 2010s. One thing for certain that I'm not really a big fan of when it comes to the Scirocco is the massive A-pillars, you really gotta crank your neck to look out for curbs or anything of that sort whenever you're making right turns in a junction.

It does however have an infamous reputation in Singapore because of the fact that many delinquents favour the Scirocco, there have been many cases and incidents where Sciroccos would get into stupid accidents and even put other drivers in danger, just a little fact.

It’s so fun to see Doug ripping around while giving the most calm commentary

*Doug is the type of guy to give a 7/10 for styling of the Volkswagen Scirocco*

I used to own a VW Scirocco R (2010) and absolutely loved it, sold it to a Friend who now had several Changes made to it. The Tuning Scene for these is pretty big in Germany and of course here in Germany these are everywhere and not hard to find.
I wish Americans could get these as well and still don't know why they don't.

The Scirocco is such a great looking compact car, just a more stylish Golf in the end of it, what’s not to love?

The owner did an amazing job on this build. Doug could have easily said this was 100% stock and I would have believed it and thought I had just never heard of it. You have to love custom builds that look stock

This build really shows how modular VW's cars are, and how skillful people can take advantage of it.
I've got a '09 Skoda Octavia RS estate, which is basically a Mk6 Golf GTI with a different design, and some of the Golf's extras were unavailable in the Octavia. I had the same radio/GPS system in my Octavia as this Scirocco has, but switched it for a VW Composition Media PQ. Now I have CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in Bluetooth (opposed to a module under the front passanger's seat) and DAB+ as well (AFAIK, US versions had satellite radio tuner instead of DAB+). The steering wheel controls do work as well. It would be worth looking into this upgrade for the future owner of this Golfrocco :) (there's also the Discover Media PQ, which adds GPS, but who needs that with CarPlay or Android Auto?)

So cool to see HPA getting some well deserved clout. Canada’s best kept secret in the VW and Audi tuning world.
Their twin-turbo VR6 builds are absolutely bananas 🤘🤘

As a European, I have to say I never saw these specs in Scirocco. Kudos to the garage that tuned this incredible car!

The mid 80's Scirocco was a very good handling, high build quality car. They didn't have a lot of power but were fun to drive and very solid.

The Scirocco is common in my country, people modded them and crashed them many times. We also got the Scirocco TSI R (188kw) with extra gauges on the top of the dashboard. Electric seats, updated headlights and taillights from 2015. Its actually wide and low in reality. It still looks great even today.

I had a 1976 Scirocco bought new, headers and ansa exhaust and mild tune...loved that car, weird handling characteristics--the neighborhood named it the flying mosquito! loved that car
