8:00 I love how the key marketing strategy in old school ads was to fukken launch the thing off a hill.

The third generation Scirocco is a piece of art. I remember when I first saw it in public - at one of the many small parking lots at our private boarding school, with Ferdinand Piëch's wife behind the wheel picking up their son to get home for the weekend. So far, so normal. The crazy thing about this situation: back then the Scirocco wasn't even available, it was still shown at different shows, and I was allowed to sit inside it and have a look at the beautiful beige interior and comfy leather seats. And the wheels were those show-off chrome monsters. I will always remember this day. And also: Rest In Peace Ferdinand Piëch.

That "old guy", Ferdinand Piech, is the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche.

I’ve always been a Scirocco fan and I truly miss my 1980 Scirocco. Even today I will be able to spot a Scirocco on a crowded street. Thanks for this video.

My father had a Mk1 Scirocco before I was born, he's owned every generatiom of Corvette and Camaro...but he still talks about the build quality of his Scirocco, how well it handled and how smooth the ride was.
He didn't own it for too long though.
He told me the three cars he regrets getting rid of the most are his '76 427 tri-power Corvette, his '59 Vette Roadster and his Mk1 Scirocco.

I have never liked old Volkswagens, until I got to ride in an old Scirocco. It wasn't amazing in the acceleration department. The owner however, could throw it around like it was a go-kart. He did crash it eventually, but it was still fun to drive around in that car.

My first car was a 1982 Scirocco. Loved that thing. I once cleared a bridge landing at least 60 feet later. The best.
