Episode #135

Pin*Bot for the NES was very unique for it's time. It was one of the few video pinball games that was based on a real pinball machine. And one that was still considered new at the time no less. Pin*bot attempts to recreate all the action and fun of the actual pinball machine while adding a few elements that would only be possible in the video game format. The end result is very fun to play.

Pin*Bot was developed by RARE and published by Nintendo in 1990.

This was one of my favorite games growing up. I'm 43 now. Watching this video makes bits and pieces of the game come back to me. I hated the little blob that ate the ball. I dont think I ever made it to the sun but got close. I was really good at hitting the ramp and getting the visor to open. I liked mutliball and when it said "Now I see you ".It was a hard but fun game.

wow, never knew that the NES has its own pinball simulation. This i think might be the only pinball for NES that doesn't try to divert from real pinball physics, even though there is a blob!

This game is awesome.

What's even more awesome is that there are later levels for it too.

If your ball ever gets captured, press start and select alternatively with fast pressing. Start shifts the table left, select shifts the table right (afaik).

I wonder if there is a Game Genie cheat to start on a later level.

It sure was ambitious on Rare's part to even attempt recreating a real life pinball game on the Nes. Yeah weird choice cutting the scrolling field but I guess they didn't want to segment the score gauge from the table image. Personally I prefer bird's eye perspective for video pinball but I guess they needed the depth of field to visually recreate all those ornate parts. Cool showcase. :)

I have the PS3 version of the Hall of Fame and Pinbot usually just crushes me. I suck so bad at it. When I'm trying to complete the Williams challenge, 9 times out of 10 its Pinbot that stops me dead. If I remember correctly, Rare converted this for the NES and also did one for High Speed as well. I never played them back then, but it looks to me like they did a great job given the hardware.

Impressive looking. But that weird scrolling would mess with my eyes after a while.

if williams pinball is anything like zen pinball on the ps3(i dont have williams on ps3 only psp and ps2...its ridiculously hard to find :/) it should have tilt motion on the sixaxis controller which is pretty cool
