I’ve had several times like this. I think most anglers have. I was on the banks of the Shenandoah River. I fought this huge 20+lb catfish, the size of a Volkswagen, for about 20-30 minutes. I brought the cat within 2-3’ from me about 3-4 times. Each time turning and running back out. Finally after tightening my drag for the last time, the cat got within 2’ or so, from me, my son ready with the net and “SNAP”. It was like that monster looked up at me and said “later” ✌🏻🙄🤣 It really wasn’t that bad, though. I was gonna release it anyway. My younger son got some video clips and pictures of the battle. So I was good. I lost, but the fight was all that mattered.

I have a creek in my town my friends and I call Goliath creek because I had a double digit bass (looked like one) spit my spinner bait at the bank and we all saw it, so we named it Goliath creek. 😂

I had a highschool bass tournament last weekend and we had 10 pound in fish with our smallest being 1.5 and then I hooked a good 3 pounder and I was waiting for the coach to net it but my teammate came over and picked up the end of my rod to try and boat flip it and the line snapped and lost us a 1.5 lb cull. Still came 17th out of 155 but would’ve put us close to top 10

My buddy jumped at least an 8 pound bass this spring (from the north so thats rare) dude literally quit fishing, ive texted him multiple times to go and he said hes still butthurt over that fish and doesnt plan on going anytime soon 😂 it hurts ill admit ive taken my licks and broken some very very expensive casting reels along the way. But i keep coming back for more, i had 2 currados and 2 metaniums stolen from my boat while i was inside eating, plenty of fish in the sea
