Want a golf course looking lawn? The Oasa R1 is a game changer. It uses a cylinder / reel mower blade as opposed to a rotary style / razor blades giving it the best mow money can buy.

Oasa R1 available on kickstarter! Official launch is June 25th 9am PST

***Disclaimer - this was a paid sponsored video

The Oasa R1 is a lidar based ai robot mower that will mow your lawn automatically, return itself back to the charging station when it runs low on battery or completes it route. Comes complete with an app that allows you to adjust:
- height of cut that ranges from .8" on up to 4" height of cut
- schedule your mows automatically
- multiple mow patterns and mow routes to choose from

What sets the R1 apart is its mow blade. most people are familiar with cylinder mowing / reel mowing. It's the type of lawn mower blade that golf courses use. The advantage to reel mowing is the cut quality. It cuts grass off of a bedknife and reel. In simpler terms, its like cutting the grass with super sharp scissors. This limits the blade scarring on the grass and increases overall health and color of the lawn.

Maintenance with traditional reel mowers can be a pain. To fix this the R1 robotic reel mower includes ai functionality to monitor the blade to limit wear and tear. It does this by using a microphone that is placed near the reel. It automatically adjusts the reel in the moment to make sure its always calibrated. This means the reel will last upwards of 3 years before needing any sharpening / grinding of the reel. The app has a backlapping feature included for maintenance sharpening.

Correction: If it's 'paid' it's not a review, but rather a commercial.

wow, these robot mowers are getting fancy! it listens to the sound the blade makes when cutting the grass and adjusts based on that. insane!

Excellent review! That is wild about the self-calibrating blade alignment! This thing solves a lot of problems from the earlier generation robotic mowers. Loving the fact you don't have to install a boundry wire in the yard! That alone is worth the price of admission.

Nice finish to the lawn, navigation can now be perfected to be wireless and GPS-free, but the most significant downside to the concept (reel mower) is the same as the old push mower. The blade is more or less permanent - requires sharpening, and any dings or dents will affect the cut. Dings or dents from branches, twigs, small undetected obstacles, gravel or rocks, even borders or bits of mulch. And these become more likely with greater frequency of cutting - you almost need to do yard policing prior to each mow (a brief wind storm leaves my yard covered with debris from surrounding trees). If you trash the blade(s) on a Segway or Husqvarna, or if they dull (my Segway blades last about 80 hours), you take a couple of minutes and replace them I like the idea, and look forward to further advances, but fear this may be a short branch on the automower evolutionary tree.

Looks promising for sure! At some point, it would be great if you could do a video that scores certain key features so that we can determine which is best for a particular application.

Thank you for the video. Which mower would you recommend - OASA R1 or TERRAMOW?

Very interesting - I will keep an eye on this one - I definitely prefer the reel mowing - my problem is debris from the trees in my yard, pretty sure the reel will get stuck

I am happy to see a video on this new product that is not the glowing marketing material. I pinged Oasa several questions on the Kickstarter page, but I'll share them here if you have any thoughts and can share comments.
I live in Florida. It is HOT here. We have Saint Augustine grass, which is much thicker and broader than the grass you have in the video. Can the R1 handle high temperatures and "tropical" sun? Can the R1 handle thick St. Augustine grass? St. Augustine grass grows up, meaning that where it may have been installed nearly flush with sidewalks or driveways, as it matures over the years, it will have a root bed above the concrete creating a "step", can the R1 accommodate that and not get "stuck"? Without a GPS, how does the R1 auto-map the perimeter with no fences to delineate the separation between properties? Lastly, what kind of end-user maintenance program is needed, and cost of parts, such as the reel, wheels, and tires?

With many mowers entering this market segment, it will be interesting to see which survive beyond the next five years. Competition is good for the consumer. The R1 has a very nice cutting system. The use of Lidar is an interesting choice. Nice demo on a NICE lawn. However, straight lines are very important.

When will you have a video on the updated version?

I pay a boy to mow our grass. He leaves trails where his tires roll over and smash the grass and then it pops up after he leaves. I can't wait to get one of these and have nice clean evenly cut grass.

Wow this thing looks awesome. Would love to see some double wide patterns and a mini roller for some sweet stripes.

how well does it handle debris such as acorns that often fall on my lawn?

You did a fantastic job demonstrating and explaining this new mower! However, my concern would be that even though you told us about it’s anti theft capabilities, they could stil be stolen and there goes my money!

I am at the edge of buying the kickstarter on this one... But I am very unsure how it handles branches and so on from trees?
Obviusly I try to keep the grass free, but with 2 huge trees there is always small branches after the sligtest wind... 🤔
And what about them leaves?
