I’ve used a number of zippo and thunderbird inserts and had a number of failures. The one I thought would be the cheap Chinese insert has worked the longest and best. Works great for cigars, pipes and everything else

That’s sweet. I bought a vintage 1976-‘77 zippo and I’ve had the same issue since day 1. Lasts for about a week then I have to refill. I use my knives to pull up the wadding and refill. 😆

They look like a great option but I’m wondering why you keep blowing it out? The lid acts as a snuffer.

I've debated on getting a few inserts for my zippo's looked like it worked well. For a backup lighter I carry a titanium lighter that seals up tight it keeps fluid for months . Thanks for the look at these inserts Jake have a great weekend ✌️

I have all the best butane inserts for Zippo, I have Yusud, Zippo Yellow Flame, and Thunderbird g inserts. Yusud actually seems good for finding a sweet spot for flame size, Thunderbird always gives me too big or too small a fire. Both are great, Zippo Yellow Flame is sorta like a bic sized flame so it is small when I don't want a big fire.

I bought a zippo but yeah, it runs out of fuel so fast even if you dont use it. Got to the point I went back to $1 bic lighters at the store.
Doesn't matter if it looks good when I have to bring spare fuel and plan when I'm going to need a lighter.
I visited a friend and saw his roommates zippo on the table, said "I'm just gonna try something." And yup, his was empty too. Looked online and its not that only my zippo had a leak.
... I might try these inserts though.

I'm a non smoker but I want to have a lighter incase I need one but I want to use my zippo not some cheap plastic lighter. One problem with the regular insert is whether you use it or not it still needs to be filled due to evaporation but the butane ones don't.

I've had issues with all of the butane inserts, including the zippo.
I just keep buying them though. LOL

After you fill it place a corner of a frezer bag on the bottom of the insert and add some black electrical tape near the top it stops evaporation to a degree no wincles!

Use a ranger band to keep fluid in your Zippo longer, it will still dry out but not as fast.

i’ve tried multiple inserts for the zippo. imo zippo makes the best one.

I'm wondering if any of these inserts work upside down, im a pipe user and I have the dual flame and it doesn't work upside down. Wondering if you can tell me if any of these other inserts work upside down. Cheers, love from Canada :)

Are you soaking the cotton block in the bottom or just the cotton inside? Soak both. Should take a lot longer to evaporate.
