One of the things that makes this film different from the usual comic book formula is that the score isn't prominent. It's lurking in the background, adding to the audience's feeling of uneasiness. Except in this scene. In this scene, which is an important step on Arthur's journey towards becoming Joker, the score takes centre stage, albeit without much fanfare.

Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Frances Conroy. Directed by Todd Phillips. Original score by rising star Hildur Guðnadóttir.

You can’t recreate the feeling that you felt while watching this beautiful scene on the big screen for the first time.

This is when I knew the movie wasn't joking around.

This might be one of the most beautifully unsettling scenes in cinema.

There were no cheers, no boos in the theater. Just silence, deathly silence. When the audiences just stare quietly at a moment as Iconic as this, is when you know you have created a masterpiece.

I’m glad this came out before the pandemic

Like someone else said, the theater got so quiet. No one said a word, just utter silence. This scene sent chills down my spine.

This was the moment in the theater when I knew I was witnessing cinematic history. One of my all time favorite films and performances. Absolutely flawless by Joaquin Phoenix

This is the scene where Arthur Fleck starts to die, and Joker begins to be born.

Starts as a meditation and ends as metamorphosis. The greatest scene in movie history.

as soon as he starts that ritual dance... arthur is slowly disintegrated and the joker appears in the mirror... a very very powerful scene.... a true transformation.

A year later, I still can't believe how this scene was completely different on script... Arthur was meant to simply have a monologue in the mirror, but thanks to Phoenix'incredible method acting we have this masterpiece of a scene instead!

This is self soothing when people who struggle with schizophrenia or psychosis have an episode. This is an extremely well researched bit of improv on Mr. Phoenix’s part. The laughter actually causes him great distress. The dancing soothes him.

“Hey, what’s your name?”

“Arthur”

“You’re a really good dancer Arthur”

“I know”

I'll never forget seeing this part for the first time. COMPLETE surprise and my jaw basically dropped. It's all so sad and hypnotizing that it just left me speechless. Needless to say, this scene sold me. Best movie ever.

What’s so striking about this scene is that after shooting 3 men, you truly believe the Joker is feeling a level of peace he has never felt before. What’s even more striking, is that you feel it with him. That’s what’s so incredible about this movie.
