Every kid wanted to play basketball like Michael Jordan, the same goes for every kid that wanted to play drums like Dennis Chambers. True legend.

OMG I FELT LIKE THIS DAY WOULD NOT GET HERE SOON ENOUGH.... Dennis Chambers is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. He is my all time favorite drummer and I would never be the musician i am with out him being who he is. So dope to see him killing it here. I hope and pray he is around many more years inspiring the world of drumming. AMAZING PERFORMANCE FROM THE LEGEND.

It is inconceivable to me that anyone would give this a thumbs down .

You are heartless man .

Dennis isn't hiding the fact that his health not what it once was.

He went up there with coursge, dignity., and honor !

He doesn't have to go up there and over excert himself to prove anything.

Dennis is one of the most influential drummers / musicians - in the history of music.

He has influenced drummers / musicians from every genre of music :

Rock, heavy metal, jazz, RnB, Fusion Funk, hip hop, Neo soul, latin, latin jazz, Acid jazz, Big band, Gospel, drum n bass ....

The list is endless.

Dennis is one the of the most sought after drunmers in history for sessions and tours.

He has held the drum seat for some of the greatest musical artists in history - from Steely Dan - to Santana.

And want to know why he got all of these great opportunities ?

Because of what we witnessed :

A very nice person who doesn't take himself too seriously, great sense of humor, and down to earth .

I want to share this with everyone who may read this :

Once, I ran out of money here in New York . I had no money for food, or anything man...

I had only known Dennis for a few months and was embarrassed to call him, but I had no one else to turn to.

So, I swallowed my pride and gave him a call .

I told him I was in a bad way up here, and asked him if he could spot me some bread until I got right $

Dennis didn't even hesitate man, he simply asked me how much I needed, then asked me how soon did I need it

He told me :

" You will get it tommorow morning at 9:00 am .

At exactly 9:00 am my doorbell rang, and when I opened it, Fed Ex was standing there with an overnight priority mail for me !

He never asked me to pay him back, he just wanted to know if I was ok

I made it my mission to make sure I paid him back every cent .

I remember when Dennis was at the peak of career he shared with me :

" When I look out into the audience and see people bring out their kids to see me, I am overwhelmed with gratitude ; that out of all of the good musicians back in Baltimore, I was the one blessed to get here man ."

He never turned anyone away who came backstage to see him after a gig.

This is why you see such reverence before, during, and after the video, .we LOVE Dennis man ...

He's always looked out for other cats and supported the younger generation of drummers coming up ; look at how emotional it got ; look at Ronald Brunner and others with tears in their eyes ...

We witnessed true greatness today guys, one of the baddest cats to ever sit behind a kit :

And one of the nicest people to ever do it.

Long live Dennis

We love you man .

Your legacy will live on foreverr.

Someone once said "The trick to good musicianship is to make the hard stuff look easy and the easy stuff look hard." Dennis just makes everything look so effortless.

This man can literally put on a clinic about how to be comfortable behind the kit.

Dennis just passed the batton publicly.
He deserves nothing but respect, anything else shows immaturity & lack of compassion.
Legend.

Oh, my God, Dennis Chambers as he called Gergő Borlai at the end, (I'm Hungarian and it's such a moment that they'll know for the last time in Hungary and a lot of people don't even understand and feel this moment its significance and greatness ... unfortunately, but I am very, very proud now Thank you Dennis Thank you Gergő Borlai, best regards: Tamás Kovács

If I can be honest with everyone. I literally cried the entire video. He’s been my very first stamp into music since I was a small little kid. Makes me realize how fast time flies. So much respect for his career 🙏🏽

I've been watching Dennis since 1986. Seen him in so many contexts. At his physical peak he was frightening. This was Dennis on a whole other level. The fluidity. Like water. Nothing to prove. Speaking of life on the drums. Painting rhythm and sound. Perfect time as always but off the grid. The Master reminding us to be grateful, to serve the music, and to look out for each other.

Man.. so gracious and humble. One could only hope that after all the years doing what we do, through sickness, health and aging, that we can be that graceful in blessing the new generation of drummers and passing the torch. Class act 👏🏾
