reminds me a comment my dad made. His boss was asking him how to get his kids to read. My dad said "I have been to your house. You don't own any books. What are they supposed to read? Go to a thrift store and buy 100 books. It doesn't matter what books you buy, but buy some books."

Amazing! I have mine read 30 mins a day the moment they come home from school. It helps them transition from the craziness of school to the calm of home. It resets their entire attitude. It also give you a chance to prepare a HEALTHY lunch for them.

I started taking my kids to library at 6 months, and reading with them, by age 3 they started reading small books, going to libraries was basically a hobby for us, and buying used books from books stores and Swap-meet, but I homeschool them, they are now 23 and 20 and are avid readers, you have to start with your self, I basically did not force them to read because I love reading in three languages, I just pass the hobby to them.

Wouldnt that just encourage reading more pages than actually absorbing more information? I feel like a lot of people set up the idea of reading x amount of books as a yearly resolution but few actually review what they read or take notes on the skill/ topic they are trying to learn. Although I guess you could argue that reading more from an early age will encourage the habit of reading, which I agree, I think most adults should also strive to understand more about what it is that they are reading instead of trying to read more pages/ books :)
