MGM didn't know how to handle a classy, sophisticated black woman like her. That's why her movie parts were mostly just cameos in a nightclub scene like this. And there was a sting in that - since her part was never a major plot point, it made it easier for southern theaters to cut her out completely.

Sassy, gorgeous, tough Lady Lena. Get over fussing over her color, people. She proudly claimed her Blackness, & that is fine. Anyhow, one's race freaking doesn't matter except to petty minded people. She was a wonderful human being.

She stood in her truth of who she was when they asked her to come to Hollywood to play in movies Her father took her and told them she would never play a maid and if that's what they wanted to do he could take her home because she never needed Hollywood and as you can see she never played maid she was very much involved with civil rights movement in her book is a great read

Lena Horne does this song with such personality and captures the cleverness of the lyrics.  Her phrasing, expressions and movements (and her beauty) make this a great production number.

The greatest version of this magnificent song performed by a complete classy and beautiful lady

What makes me sad was that whenever her movies were shown in the south, her scenes were usually edited out. It makes me really disappointed in America's history.

omg she was gorgeous, purely gorgeous. If they ever do a movie on her life, Alicia Keys would be the PERFECT actress for the role.

I'm entranced by both her voice and her mannerisms in this performance. So much charisma.

True talent and showmanship! MGM had the best talent! Shame that today’s singers can’t even touch legends like Lena Horne❤️

This gorgeous lady certainly knew what she was doing and continued doing it right for many years. She never seemed to age - sorely missed and there'll never be another
