**This video is part of an ongoing effort to catalog my favorite shows in the highest sound quality possible (ie, no cassette generations, no mp3 compression). To the best of my knowledge, each recording is the clearest available version. Some recordings may be "Matrix" (a mix of soundboard and audience taping). Files have also been combined so that transitions between songs are seamless.**

Love coming back to this one moreso than other dead shows. Everytime I'm browsing for a show and I see that image of that crazy bass Phil played with sound of wall looming over the stage, i instantly throw it on .
Bill kreutzmann is the greatest drummer ever and I consider myself a somewhat knowledgeable and talented drummer and percussionist.
Tony Williams, billy cobham, ginger baker all are wonderful but bill k is a force of nature and the guy Jerry needs the most .
Jerry basically plays around Bill's drumming, there kind of playing in circles with each other, and phil is right in the middle of them, bouncing in and out of the pocket in such a melodic manner . Bob is right there responding to the sound and adding structure and richness to the sound. And then keith is simply on the outside filling out the band with his gentle approach to the keys.
Greatest band to ever exist. Thank you WoS, you've added much joy to my life!

yesterday i gave the first set the good ol listen straight through, 74 has such powerful playing, but what really grabbed me was that playing>ujb>playing, it really brought me back to a dead and company show that me and my wife went to in chicago 2023, “final tour”. anyway we had been to a couple shows in 21’ and one in chicago in 22’ so we were still a little new and were young and finding our comfort zone in a such a kind but almost intimidating crowd at these shows, but for these 2 night runs i felt myself more grounded and the vibes were really there, and it was packed in there with so much people and the energy was thick, anyway i can’t remember which night it was but i do remember it was during space and the band really reached out and explored a very dark energy that really cut into me and the wife, i remember one moment where there was a very loud noice that almost sounded as some equipment had blown, or maybe mickey really banged on that beam, not sure what it really was and never heard it on the soundboard recordings, who knows, but it really rattled us. after that the band joined the stage and we’re slowly exploring in that same dark matter yet it seemed as if we were slowly calming, and that’s when they busted into uncle john’s band. It immediately lifted that dark energy and it seemed to me that the band was saving us from that place and taking us to this new place of true love for every single people on a deep level, they really cared for everyone that night, and after listening to this show and that very deep and dark jam they went into and then pulled into uncle johns band it just brought me right back to that night immediately, it really leaves me at a loss for words, i love this band so much, peace to everyone 🌹

Overall sound is spectacular here and I love shows where Keith is really clear in the mix. 73/74 period is just behind 77/78 for me so this is right up my alley, thanks WOS

One of the most amazing Playing in the Band jams I've heard and I'm a connoisseur. Kreutzmann is on fire... reminds me Billy Cobham with Maha Vishnu Orchestra. The whole entry into the jam is so beautiful and keeps a mostly melodic and delicate interplay for a nice long while. Love it. Donnas final scream... not so much.

This was always one of my favorite "Dream" shows with a little of everything for everyone. Utterly Fantastic Dream Setlist, chock full of Tasty jamming, just outright Unbelieveable all the way around. My 1st show was a few days later (8/5/74) but I was kinda too young to really appreciate it. It did make me Cynical about all/any other bands, as I expected everything to be this Awesome ;(
